Protecting Customer Information

When you provide us or one of our affiliated companies with information, you can be sure that we will protect and secure it. Whenever we work with customer information, whether we are using it to develop a new service or to determine which customers could benefit from a special offer, we follow a strict set of principles, which include:

Respecting Your Privacy

Financial information is personal, and we realize the importance of keeping it accurate and confidential. We value your trust and handle this information with care.

Our employees access information about you only when needed to maintain your accounts or otherwise meet your needs. We use proven state-of-the-art technology and established procedures for keeping this information secure.

Meeting Your Needs

We collect and use various types of publicly-available information, as well as information you provide to us, to better understand what you want in financial services and the best way to offer them to you. This enables us to continually bring you improved accounts and services. The information we collect also helps us to identify other types of products and services that might benefit you.

Keeping Information Accurate

We take appropriate steps to keep your account information accurate and up to date. This is important so that no matter how you access your information (on account statements, by phone or online), it will be correct. If you ever notice that your information is not complete, accurate or correct, please call the telephone number on your account statement to let us know. We will correct the information as quickly as possible.

Limiting Information that is Shared

When it comes to sharing customer information, we place strict limits on who receives information and what type of information is shared.

We may share information with an outside company if we think that the company provides a product or service that could benefit our customers. In each case, we carefully review the company and the product or service to make sure that it provides value to our customers.

If we think that you might find another company’s product or service helpful, we may share limited information such as your name, address, and/or phone number with that company. We share the minimum amount of information necessary for that company to offer you its product or services. We always require companies that receive information from us to keep it confidential.

Other times, we may share information with outside companies that assist us in providing customers with our products and services. These companies act on our behalf and are also obligated to keep the information that we provide to them confidential.

Information may also be exchanged with consumer reporting agencies and provided when legally required or permitted in connection with litigation, fraud investigation or an acquisition or sale.

As required by FACTA, we may not use eligibility information about a customer that we receive from an FCNB affiliate to make a solicitation for marketing purposes unless:

i. we disclose to you in writing that we may use eligibility information about you received from an FCNB affiliate to make solicitations for marketing purposes;

ii. you are provided a reasonable opportunity and a reasonable method to "opt out" or prohibit us from using eligibility information to make solicitations for marketing purposes; and

iii. you have not opted out.
